7 SIGHTS OF THAILAND - CHIANG MAI - THE HOLY CITY

It is extremely difficult to say which one of the many temples is the one more interesting in Chiang Mai.

The town of Chiang Mai, in the Northern region of Thailand, is situated in a large valley surrounded by the highest mountain of the country.

The town of Chiang Mai was the capital of the Lanna's kingdom, one of the many kingdom composing the present Thailand. Surrounded by strong walls and by a large moat, the old city of Chiang Mai hosts the most spectacular roofed temples after Thailand's capital Bangkok.

To visit Chiang Mai you will need at least 3 full days and most conveniently a good bike, you can easily rent in town, to explore the old town and its many wonderful Wats, as the temples are locally called.

This collection of #7 sights of Chiang Mai aims to discover the most known temples inside the old city walls, more posts will follow about Chiang Mai surroundings and its inspiring tradition as an important Buddhist religious centre and school.
