Meet the American Stars in Washington DC - The National Portrait Gallery

The Kogard Courtyard of the National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC is so beautiful that it is difficult to describe it.

It is a masterpiece of the modern architecture.

The National Portrait Gallery is a little gem in Washington DC.

It is away from the area of the main museums along the green, it is much less famous than the other national galleries, but it is a great place to spend a day!

It is not only the great harmony of the glass canopy covering the roof of the courtyard that make this building so inspiring and relaxing.

It is also the winter garden with its simple fountains and its beautiful plants. Kogard Courtyard is a great touch of style to the ornate 1836 building, a masterpiece in itself.

Such a beautiful architecture prepares the eyes and the mind to visit “Two great museums, one incredible place” as the large banner in front of the building advertises.

The National Portrait Gallery is one of the two great museums there, the other one is the America's Art Museum.

The National Portrait Gallery is a great collection of the portraits of the great American men and women. There are the portraits of the US Presidents, of famous American generals and important scientists and artists.

A great feeling of modernity pervades the exhibition and it is so interesting to see the different styles used to represent this famous American people, their expressions, the way they are dressed, the colours used in the paintings.

These paintings are not simply portraits, they are deep studies of the life and the personality of the most famous Americans!
You will meet Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Audrey Hepburn, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Bill Gates, General Eisenhower, Bill Clinton and many many more...
