Want to travel to a Scottish Isle? The wonderful Island of Arran is waiting you!

After having visited the Shetland Isles, we continue or tour in the Scottish Isles, this time discovering Arran.

Arran is also called "Scotland in miniature", because this little island well represents the different aspects of the tipical Scottish landscape.

Beautiful beaches, bare mountains and castles are the main attractions of Arran.

Arran is only two hours away from Glasgow and it is very well connected to Glasgow International Airport and Prestwick International Airport on the Ayrshire Coast.

Here some ideas about what to do and what to see in Arran.

If you love trekking you should absolutely climb the Goatfell, the main (and nearly only) mountain on the island.

In a sunny days from the top you can enjoy fantastic views of Arran and of all the surrounding Western Scottish Isles, including the neighbour island of Bute.

If you like to visit castles the most interesting on the island is certainly Brodick Castle.

Situated in Brodick, the main town of Arran, the castle and its beautiful gardens will make your visit in Arran special.

The Goatfell towering above Arran
Lochranza in the North of the island is also unmissable, with its beautiful bay and the ruins of the old castle.

We absolutely recommend to visit Lochranza in a full moon night and enjoy the reflections of the moon in the bay behind Lochranza Castle.

Visit the beautiful village of Lamlash with its pretty cottages and take a trip to the little Holy Island, now a Buddhist retreat.

Enjoy the quiet and beauty of Arran beaches and watch the seals busking in the sun on the West Coast, try the local whisky and beer and plan a trip to the nearby island of Bute.

Arran is very well connected by public transport to Glasgow and Glasgow Prestwick Airport (Read more here about about How to get to Arran).
